Once a year, during one week each November, 160 countries around the world, through the Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN), get together and jointly promote entrepreneurship by focusing on taking relevant content, events and competitions to the small businesses in those countries, with the aim of getting entrepreneurs to grow their businesses and impact positively on the relevant economies. The week also aims to inspire millions to engage in entrepreneurial activity while connecting them to potential collaborators, mentors and even investors. Powered by the Kauffman Foundation, the initiative is supported by dozens of world leaders and a network of more than 15,000 partner organisations.

We are excited to invite you to events for Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) for 2016 which will run from 14-18 November 2016. A number of Global Entrepreneurship Network Partners and other organisations passionate about SME development across Africa will jointly deliver you with content relevant to your SME needs. The programme is planned across fourteen countries in Africa, based on the top needs of SMEs in the African landscape, including discussions about access to finance, markets, skills and technology.

Based on the information shared above, as well as the understanding of the needs of an entrepreneur, it is important to note that the following pain points are daily and real for potential as well as existing entrepreneurs:

• Ideation: How to come up with a business idea as well as validate that the idea is sound
• Improving day to day productivity
• Interacting with relevant stakeholders
• Marketing and PR trends and optimisation
• Knowledge and information management
• Financing & Accounting management systems

An opportunity therefore exists to inspire entrepreneurs with adequate solutions and assistance to improve their rate of success. The sessions will focus on practical solutions where the entrepreneurs are able to gain as much value as possible during the sessions with an additional value add of on line/ virtual interaction, tools, solutions and mentoring.
